Fear not, everyone, for last week’s appeal to find the owner of Midsomer Norton’s mystery duck, ‘Shauny’, has worked. And rather than it being posted on social media, the person who found it went straight to the local newspaper and achieved a rapid response.
The duck was found by John Gwynn, who contacted us from Lee-on-the-Solent, and Shauny’s family saw the appeal in last week’s paper.
The family of four were enjoying a trip out and explain: “We had always liked the idea of a message in a bottle, but wanted to do something a little different.
“So, we decided to buy some ducks – on the bottom, I had written that we were having a family day out in Teignmouth (although we ended up in Dawlish) and that we would love to know where the ducks ended up.
“They were named after us; with baby ducks, Shauny and Sasha, Aaron, my partner and a Mummy duck.
“They all went off at the same time on 27th January, and we hope we will hear back from the other ducks eventually – we wanted to give the kids a sense of magic from the experience.
“When we told Shauny that his duck had been the first to be found, he was so excited!”
