Pupils from Radstock, Paulton and Welton were among more than 100 children who took part in fun sporting festivals hosted by Team Bath Tribe.

Held at the University of Bath’s Sports Training Village (STV), students were given the chance to experience sport at the home of Olympic, Paralympic and World Champions.

They worked on their racket skills with tennis coaches, practiced passing and shooting with netball players Ellie Ervine and Sienna Rutherford, and raced each other on the indoor sprint track during their visit.

The events were supported by Bath Building Society, the main partners of the Team Bath Tribe youth sport programme which been delivering the festivals for local schools over the past 20 years.

Jess Clements, sports development manager at the University of Bath, said: “We always have such a fun time at these festivals and it was wonderful to see so many young people throwing themselves into the day and embracing the sporting opportunities on offer.

“They are a great way to introduce children to different activities, meet pupils from other schools and hopefully begin a lifelong love of sport.

“Thank you to all the schools who took part and to Bath Building Society for supporting our programme.”

Pupils from primary schools across North East Somerset attended, including those from Radstock, Paulton, Welton, Peasedown St John and Bath.

As well as festivals at the STV, Team Bath Tribe delivers outreach sessions in primary and secondary schools across Bath and North East Somerset and collaborative works with the local school sports partnership team.

More than 2,000 pupils from across the country enjoy bespoke visits to the STV each year. They take part in multi-skill assessments, sports-specific sessions, career guidance and Q&A sessions with athletes.
