On Wednesday 8th February, a team of Year 3 pupils from Longvernal Primary School represented the school Debating Club by competing in the ‘Speak Out!’ public speaking competition, which is held across the primary schools in the Midsomer Norton Partnership Trust.

The competition started a few years ago but sadly the pandemic meant that the event had not been held in full since 2020, although a handful of schools valiantly recorded debates to share electronically in 2022.

This year it was fantastic for children from nine different schools in the Trust to come together and perform on the stage at Writhlington School.

The standard was extremely high with all teams presenting balanced arguments. The winning team was Longvernal Primary with ‘Banksy: Genius or Vandal’. St. Julian’s School, Wellow, came second with Peasedown St. John third.
