The Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Councillor Lynda Robertson, officially launched the show home at Backhouse’s development in the town.

The Mayor took a guided tour of the show home and saw close up the affordable homes being built for local people by the award-winning housebuilder.

Backhouse is building a mix of 40 three-, four- and five-bedroom homes on Silver Street. The properties are characterised by the housebuilder’s thoughtful approach to design in partnership with the acclaimed regional architects, Clifton Emery Design.

Backhouse has enjoyed a successful pre-launch and has now reserved 50 per cent of the houses at its new development demonstrating the demand for new homes in the area. First occupations are expected next month.

Visitors to The Gables will now be able to appreciate the craftsmanship of build and materials used by Backhouse as well as seeing first-hand the superb interiors. With an appreciation for space and light, wide corridors and large windows, the show home features a large family kitchen/diner with bi-fold doors to the garden and a separate lounge. The 1,500 square feet home boasts four bedrooms, including en-suite in the master bedroom as well as a number of modern features throughout.

Every versatile Backhouse home showcases its signature style – an abundance of natural light, free flowing living space and the housebuilder’s meticulous attention to detail throughout. Each contemporary home has been designed for modern-day living, meaning buyers can expect to find ample practical storage space, and plenty of flexible living space.

Key aspects for space and light are high ceilings, wide corridors and large windows. Each home has open and spacious living areas together with a high specification on fixtures and fittings. Buyers can expect to find many features, such as sleek central islands in spacious kitchens, feature fireplaces, fitted storage and rainfall showers in bathrooms.

The Mayor of Midsomer Norton, Councillor Lynda Robertson, said: “It was a pleasure to meet the team from Backhouse and have a good look around the impressive show home. It’s also fantastic to see some affordable homes being built on site which locals will live in.”

The new residential development, situated close to Midsomer Norton’s new primary school, is a big draw for home buyers looking to settle in this sought-after location, as well as being excellent to commute to Bath and Bristol.

As well as having the countryside on the doorstep, the scheme will benefit from generous open green spaces, featuring places for local residents to meet and enjoy living in the local community.

Emily Adams, Sales and Marketing Director at Backhouse, commented: “It was a pleasure to meet the Mayor and showcase what we are building at Midsomer Norton.

“To sell so many homes off plan demonstrates the demand for our product but also the desirable location in Midsomer Norton. We do recommend prospective buyers visit our show home to get a feel for the Backhouse product.”

Ian Jones, Managing Director of Backhouse, added: “Understanding the importance of outside space, our homes have been configured to connect the inside seamlessly with the private outdoor space. The end result is the perfect solution for people living in these times, who want their home to be an all-rounder - flexible enough to work from home, super stylish for entertaining and comfortable to relax every day.”
