The Somerset Miners Welfare Trustees had a busy day last Tuesday installing four metal Miners around the area where coal mines existed, starting at Writhlington then Westfield, Chilcompton and Timsbury.

At each area the miners were handed over to each Parish Council as a gift for them to look after on into the future.

Dave and Kate Speed have done a great job in designing, manufacturing and installing the silhouettes, they have been well received by the majority of the people in all areas.

There will be information boards put near each statue with details of the Colliery and a QR code telling the story of the Somerset Coal Mines.
