The Midsomer Norton and Radstock Branch of the Royal British Legion, held its Annual Dressing of the Graves on Saturday (12th of November), where posies of poppies are laid amongst the local War Graves in our area. Each posy is sponsored helping to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.
Local Parish Councils and clergy stepped up to the mark and performed the ‘Dressing of Graves’ ceremonies in the cemeteries in the local area. Although this event was the creation of the Legion Branch, due to the limited number of Branch members, it was difficult to ensure members could attend all 16 events. Then the local town and Parish Councils along with the local clergy stepped in and have taken over the running of each.
In Radstock, young people from the Girls and Boys Brigade assisted, whilst in Midsomer Norton, members of the local rugby club junior section, local Girl Guides and 1st Radstock Scouts took part.
