WITH the Midsomer Norton Carnival approaching, residents should be aware of possible traffic disruptions caused by road closures.
The Midsomer Norton Carnival will take place on Monday, November 14, and is the largest community event in the Somer Valley.
The carnival showcases a lively mix of large illuminated floats, walking groups, and masquerade pairs, along with numerous entries from community groups and local businesses.
The procession starts on the A367 at the roundabout adjacent to Charlton Lane at 7.30pm and proceeds into Charlton Road, past Norton Hill School, before turning right down Silver Street past the railway station; the area around the junction is not recommended for spectators.
During the Midsomer Norton Carnival, several roads will be closed and key closures will include the A367 at the roundabout by Charlton Lane, Charlton Road as the procession passes Norton Hill School, and Silver Street leading to the town hall.
The procession will travel against the usual traffic flow on High Street, and Radstock Road will be closed after The Stones Cross as the event makes its way toward the finish line near Welton Primary School.
Residents and visitors are advised to plan ahead and explore alternative routes to avoid any disruptions during the carnival.
