PACKING up was a breeze on for the Rotary Club of Midsomer Norton & Radstock following their initial, and very successful, Boot Swap ahead of the upcoming school year on Saturday 3 August.
Club President, Debby Huxham, said: “I’m very happy to see such a stream of children and their parents who are enthusiastic to have this scheme available to them and express their support.”
The idea of the scheme is to offer sports boots to children, who typically outgrow their boots all too quickly, in exchange for another pair in good, clean condition. Hundreds of pairs of boots of all types and sizes will be swapped over the next month.
Boot Swap got kick-started in 2022 when the club was fortunate to have had Paulton Rovers FC and Westfield Youth FC generously donate over a hundred pairs of boots to enable a good selection of stock right from the start.
The Boot Swap will continue through to the first weekend in September, taking place every Saturday morning from 11am-1pm outside Sainsbury’s in Midsomer Norton. There is no charge involved and if someone has no boots to swap they’re invited to give a donation which goes to Rotary charities.
