As the sun shone, thousands of revellers enjoyed a fantastic day of activities in Midsomer Norton’s Town Park on Saturday, July 13. Locals turned up to enjoy a day of free and affordable activities across the family extravaganza, starting with the Maypole festival, involving eight local primary schools.
As well as 50 market stalls from local traders and community groups, there were numerous activities to check out. In the park, arts and drumming workshops commenced. Traditional ‘Fayre’ activities were also popular with Punch and Judy continuing to entertain children as well as balloon modelling and face painting.
Performances came from a local brass bands, school rock bands, acoustic artists, ukulele orchestras and musicians. In the Somer Centre there were art displays and workshops alongside the Victorian Tea Rooms. The Skate Park was filled competition whilst almost a hundred Town Show entries showcased the creativity of local residents and Maggie Depledge was crowned the winner of this year’s Fayre.
Alex Davis, community trust manager, said: “A huge thanks goes to the Community Trust’s team of volunteers for the hundreds of hours put into organising the event, and to the community groups who helped with set up and activities on the day.”
Next year’s event will take place on Saturday, July 12.
