MORE than 2,500 people attended Peasedown’s summer festival at Beacon Field on Saturday, June 8 – in beautiful hot weather. The occasion marked Party in the Park’s 15th anniversary.

Sponsored by St John’s Church, Curo, Radfield Homecare, Bath Audi and Bath and North East Somerset Council, festival revellers came along to enjoy over seven hours of live music and entertainment.

The event included an array of stalls and attractions, a dog show, hot food, and the return of the Peasedown Diamond cider.

Organised by the village’s local councillors, Karen Walker and Gavin Heathcote (Independents), the festival is Peasedown’s biggest annual event.

They said: “Thank you to everyone who came along to support this year’s Party in the Park festival. It’s been fantastic to see the event grow over the last 15 years. From a humble village fete to a festival with over 2,500 people – we couldn’t have done it without the support of the local community.

“As a village we certainly showed what we can do when we come together and work for a common goal.”

Main stage performances included The Original Barn Finds; Peasedown St John Primary School Choir; Trash Casino; 4 Undercover, The Lone Sharks, Cult of the Velvet Rattlesnake, The RevelationZ Band and the Leon Daye Band.

The stage and entertainment line-up this year was managed by Reaper Events and Radio Bath.

The Peasedown St John Community Civic Award was presented on the day. The award was given to a duo that have spent the last 15 years fighting crime and helping to make our streets safer.

Karen and Gavin said: “Thank you to everyone who sent in nominations for this year’s Peasedown St John Community Civic Award.

“We were overwhelmed with nominations for our fantastic PSCOs Louise Jones and Tony McKintosh from Avon and Somerset Police.

“Often seen walking around the village and meeting residents in community spaces like the school, coffee shop and at Beacon Hall, these two have become a ‘part and parcel’ of life here in Peasedown St John - and the village wouldn’t be the same without them.

“These two have shown selfless service and dedication to making Peasedown St John a better place. Thank you, Louise and Tony.”
