People in North East Somerset and Hanham with experience in trying to navigate support for their children in the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system are being invited to contribute to a Parliamentary inquiry.

MP Dan Norris says that many constituents have been in touch with him in recent months asking for help.

He said: “It is clear that many people with experience of the SEND system feel it is broken, and as a result they feel they and their children are being thoroughly let down.

“As well as assisting constituents with their own individual cases, I am inviting people to contribute to an important Parliamentary inquiry. It is investigating the need for reform to a system which is creating huge pressures on local authority funding and on our local schools.

“The House of Commons Education Select Committee’s inquiry ‘Solving the SEND crisis’ is open for submissions until January 30.”

The inquiry will focus on how to achieve both short term stability and long-term sustainability for the SEND system to improve experiences and outcomes for children and young people.

Mr Norris encourages constituents to share their experiences via the Education Committee website. Alternatively, people can email him directly at [email protected].
