Last month's mystery photo was a relatively recent one, taken in Winford in the 1990s. Here, on the main road through the village and on the opposite side to the shop, the Coles family ran the coach company “Winford Queen”. A couple of generations of children waited for the coach to Chew Valley School there every morning. After the company closed near the beginning of the present century, the land was sold for building. The site is now known as the Old Coach Station.
Do you have any old pictures of people, places and events in the Chew Valley and Mendip area that you would like to see in the Gazette as a mystery photo, or that could be added to the Harptrees History Society's archive? If so, please email [email protected]
