A NEW footbridge connecting Waterside Valley to Haydon Batch was completed over the summer, funded by a grant from the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) and Westfield Parish Council.

Spectrum carried out the installation of the bridge, with access for necessary vehicles provided by St Nicholas Church. Somer Valley Rediscovered also offered additional support.

Chair of the Parish Council, Cllr Phil Wilkinson, said: “This is great for our communities. Not only have we prevented a well-used bridge from falling into complete disrepair, but we have also linked communities and secured the future of this important route.”
