Last week’s Mystery Photograph was taken at Hallatrow Station.
Thank you to everyone who sent in their answers. Well done to the following for guessing correctly:
Mike Ford, Roy Barnes, Val Rogers, George Graf, Colin Button, Neil Gillard, Paul Hancock, Iain Locke, Bob Stokes, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Eddie Attwood and Norma Attwood.
Well done to Jonathan Griffin, who said: “This week we're at Hallatrow on the GWR's Bristol and North Somerset line looking north towards Clutton and the junction with the Camerton Branch.”
Thank you to Jeff Parsons, who guessed Hallatrow correctly and commented on last week’s Mystery Photo. He said: “Regarding last week's picture the machine looks like an Aveling and Porter steam roller rather than a traction engine.
“I seem to recall that the former Norton Radstock Urban Council had one of these machines for road works and I think at one time they kept it with its traditonal trailer, in a small compound just beyond the former railway bridge by the beginning of New Road (Somervale Road), opposite the bottom of the old Welton Road. Can anyone confirm this or have I been dreaming again?”
John Goold, co-organiser of the Camerton Rally, also provided corrections from last week. He confirmed the vehicle as an Aveling and Porter steam roller and commented: “The Camerton Traction Engine Rally was run by the parish church to raise funds to rehang the bells. The first rally took place in 1967 and ran for thirteen years.”
