A new on-call recruit for Avon Fire & Rescue Service (AF&RS) celebrated his graduation on Friday 3rd February following completion of the training course at Severn Park.

Alongside fellow AF&RS graduates, and recruits from Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service, Dan Harvey graduated in an official ceremony following the completion of a rigorous training course. The course provides new on-call firefighters with specialist knowledge and a wide range of practical skills including tactical firefighting, pitching ladders, breathing apparatus, road traffic collision safety and water safety and rescue.

Dan was presented with his completion certificate in the ceremony and will now go on to serve his community in Paulton as part of the on-call response crew.

Dan said: “I have always respected the role of a firefighter and the many jobs that they have to do.

“It’s an excellent and interesting opportunity.”

Assistant Chief Fire Officer Steve Imire said: “I’d like to congratulate our new on-call firefighter Dan Harvey, who officially graduated the training course today. I wish him the best of luck as he responds to incidents and helps his community in Paulton.”
