An Avon and Somerset police officer who admitted multiple online child sex offences faces a professional misconduct hearing.

PC James Gullis, 28, based in east Somerset, was convicted at Exeter Magistrates Court last month after pleading guilty to crimes including making indecent images of children. He also admitted possessing banned images of children and extreme pornography.

He was arrested and suspended from duty in December 2023 after the National Crime Agency passed information to the force.

A publicity notice for the virtual misconduct hearing on the constabulary’s website said PC Gullis allegedly breached the standards of professional behaviour in terms of honesty and integrity and discreditable conduct.

The misconduct hearing takes place on Tuesday, March 18, and the officer will be sentenced at Exeter Crown Court the following day.
