Pavements in Peasedown St John have received a much-needed makeover, thanks to funding secured by the village’s local councillors.

Residents living in Church Road raised their concerns about the poor condition of pavement surfaces with Cllr Karen Walker and Cllr Gavin Heathcote last year.

As a result, the councillors were able to persuade B&NES Council to allocate £42,000 in this year’s budget to carry out the works.

Cllr Karen Walker said: “The pavements had become cracked, broken and full of dangerous holes. The support we received from residents gave us a strong case to take to B&NES for the resurfacing works to be done.”

Cllr Gavin Heathcote added: “The highways staff at the council were fantastic. We spent an afternoon walking around the estate showing officials which pavements needed repair work and agreed a schedule for the resurfacing to be carried out.

“Thanks to all the residents of Church Road who lobbied about this, the street is now looking a lot safer with newly resurfaced pavements.”

Peasedown Councillors are keen to hear from other residents who are concerned about pavement conditions. Contact Cllr Karen Walker on 07968 401447, [email protected] or Cllr Gavin Heathcote on 07557 683834, [email protected].
