Around 40 jobs could be created in Keynsham under plans to turn an empty warehouse into an electric karting track.
The giant warehouse near Waitrose was formerly used by I.J.McGill Transport, but has been unused since 2022. Now TeamSport want to turn it into their next karting centre.
The company runs 35 karting centres around the country, including one in Avonmouth. A statement submitted with a planning application to Bath and North East Somerset Council said: “The current building layout provides a large open plan space which will be utilised to create an interesting track experience.
“It will create approximately 40 new jobs and will deliver investment in the local economy.”
The karting centre would be open every day from 8am to 11pm and could have 16 karts going at the same time. All karts would be electric and have no emissions.
The plans will be open for consultation until July 18 and Bath and North East Somerset Council will aim to decide whether to grant planning permission by September 12.
