Boundary changes to Parliamentary Constituencies mean the Green Party believe that they now have a chance of becoming elected to represent the residents of Radstock and Midsomer Norton.
These towns will now form the new Frome and East Somerset constituency. Frome is a stronghold for the Green Party, in the last local election they polled nearly 20% of the vote.
With Conservatives neck and neck with the Lib Dems, the race is wide open between these three parties. Frome is a stronghold for the Green Party, in the last local elections they polled nearly 20% of the vote. In last year’s by-election in Somerton and Frome, candidate Martin Dimery polled the highest ever Green Party vote in a by-election.
Green Party campaigners, together with Martin, have been introducing them to the voters. Last Saturday they were in Midsomer Norton town centre meeting voters.
Martin told us: “I am pleased with the positive response that we are getting. Voters are fed up with the main parties and how little they are doing for the people of Midsomer Norton. They realise that the Green Party has some of the answers, obviously concerning the environment and global warming, but also regarding local housing and public transport.”
