Seth Branson, a thirteen year-old Scout from Radstock, was the first winner of the Wansdyke District Commissioner’s Award for Excellence, which was presented at the recent AGM.
The award was set up this year by District Commissioner, Tina Curtis, to recognise special service given in the spirit of Scouting by one of its young members.
Tina said: “Seth is a very unassuming young man, who in true Scouting spirit takes part in whatever activities he can, is a great asset to his Patrol and Troop, and well-liked by all his peers. Seth does not leap in and do things for the other Scouts, but stands back and watches patiently in case he needs to help out or offer encouragement.
“He shows an amazing caring attitude and one which he extends to everyone he meets. In particular, the way in which he selflessly supports one fellow Scout is above and beyond that expected of someone his age.”
Five young people were nominated for the award by their Scout Groups, and the winner of the award was chosen by someone from another Scout district.
