On Sunday, 24th September, the family gathered at Camerton Village Hall to plant a tree in memory of our much-missed sister, Colette ‘Col’ Redman.
It was planted metres away from the tree we had planted three years earlier in memory of our parents, Jean and Peter Redman.
Col was one of eight children (known as the eight Cs) we grew up in Parkway Cottages and spent many happy hours outside playing around the village. We could all be found “up the back”, up the lane, across the fields or playing ball along on the hall field. It was a happy place for us all to live and grow up.
We have many memories of various family events at the village hall - Christmas, birthdays, weddings, Dad’s retirement party and even his 90th birthday disco! Over the years there were also village carnivals and fetes, as well as annual bonfire nights.
Col took great delight in taking part in the fancy dress parades - she dressed up as Charlie Chaplin one year and has his walk down to an art!
It seemed fitting that a tree should be planted at the hall in her memory, along with mum and dad’s tree, a place we can visit and reflect on her life which was taken too soon.
Rest in peace Col, with much love from your siblings; Christopher, Christine, Colin, Corrina, Carolyn, Camilla and Cheryl.
