The Rotary Club of Midsomer Norton & Radstock is half-way through the Rotary year and have achieved a great deal socially, in the community, internationally and, not least for charitable causes.
Some of the activities over the last six months include the Rotakids Fayre, a stall at the Town Fayre, a progressive supper, packing Waterboxes, back-to-school Boot Swaps, victorious croquet match champs, a very successful Charity Golf Day, an International dinner at Soyful’s Kitchen, winners of the District Skittles Plate, Poppy Appeal collection, participated in the Remembrance Day parade, collected for the Midsomer Norton Carnival, and hosted a Christmas carol service at the Church of St. John the Baptist. The Club Services committee also arranged some interesting speaker meetings about Bees, Rat Catching, Bath Cats & Dogs Home, and the Kokrobite Charity in Ghana. Several impromptu gatherings were also enjoyed at the pub for curry nights and the like. Rotarians also helped marshal the Mendip & District Round Table Fireworks Display.
The club continues with a busy agenda through the remainder of their year including a community photographic contest, a Downside Concert Night on 11th May featuring the Mendip Male Voice Choir and Jenny Peplow Singers, and the welcome return of the Beer Festival on 7th-8th June at the Chilcompton Sports Club.
It’s quite remarkable what has been achieved and what is in the pipeline.
