Christmas has come early for talented youngsters at a local school, who are reaping the rewards of their artistic skills.
Pupils at Cameley CEVC Primary School took part in a competition set by housebuilder, David Wilson Homes, to design a work of art for its Knights Rise development nearby. And this week, three pupils were rewarded with shopping vouchers after scooping top places in the challenge.
Pupils were tasked with drawing a picture of a Knight to be placed in the new show home at Knights Rise, a development off Temple Inn Road. Children of all ages got crafty with everything from crayons to charcoal, but in the end, Alice Forster was crowned the winner and scooped the top prize. Her artwork will now take pride of place in the show home.
Fellow pupils, Rhianna Hulbert and James Youle, were also commended by David Wilson Homes’ judges, scooping runners-up prizes.
Emily Adams, from David Wilson Homes, who visited the school to present the winners with their vouchers, said: “We were so impressed with all the entries – it was very hard to pick one overall winner. It says a lot for the level of talent there is at Cameley Primary School.”
Hannah Maggs, Headteacher at Cameley Primary School, said: “The children have had great fun getting creative with the competition. It has been the perfect opportunity to put the art skills they have learnt in class to practice. A huge well done to everyone who took part.”
