Frome charity Heal Rewilding has received a £35,000 funding boost from Benefact Group’s Movement for Good awards, where it will be used to rewild lands across England to heal nature and act on climate change.

This share is part of a wider £1 million being donated to charities across the year through Benefact Group’s Movement for Good awards.

Heal Rewilding is an organisation that works to raise money in order to buy land and rewild it, for nature, climate and wellbeing.

The money will support the charity in two substantial areas: undertaking research and planning for a potential rewilding consultancy offer, and upgrading part of the charity’s headquarters.

The grant will also fund critical refurbishments to the farmhouse at Heal Somerset, providing critical space for the consultant to work on-site and create a functional environment for the team in the future.

Jan Stannard, chair of trustees at Heal Rewilding, said: “On behalf of Heal’s trustees and staff, I would like to express how honoured and excited we are to receive Benefact Group’s invaluable support for our plan to set up a rewilding consultancy service. This grant will significantly advance efforts to restore nature across England. It means a great deal to our wider Heal community—our dedicated volunteers, donors, business partners, and advisors—who believe in our vision and contribute to our success.

“This grant is a major milestone in our journey, and we are especially grateful for Benefact Group’s recognition of the importance of investing in both innovative projects and the infrastructure required to sustain them. This kind of forward-thinking support will allow us to grow and have a lasting impact.”

Mark Hews, group chief executive at Benefact Group, said: “We would like to thank every single person who took the time to nominate a good cause as part of our Movement for Good Awards. Benefact Group is a family of award-winning specialist financial services companies and the third largest corporate donor to charity in the UK.”

Benefact Group is a specialist financial services group that exists to give all available profits to charity services. Owned by a registered charity in Benefact Trust, they have donated over £200 million to charitable causes since 2014.

Further winners will be revealed later in the year, and Somerset residents are encouraged to nominate causes they care about by visiting https://movementforgood.com/.
