A ‘Shop, Dine and Visit Local’ campaign has been launched in Midsomer Norton with backing from businesses and Bath & North East Somerset Council.

B&NES Council is launching its ‘Shop Local’ campaign to highlight the number of independent shops, restaurants, cafes and businesses in the town.

Councillor Paul Roper, cabinet member for economic and cultural sustainable development, said: “Every pound spent at a local cafe, hairdresser or restaurant helps to boost the local economy, support local jobs and local families, and ensures the town centre continues to thrive.

“We are working hard to minimise any disruption during the work to create the new Market Square and we want to encourage everyone to show support for local businesses.”

The Market Square development is part of the £3.7m Midsomer Norton High Street Regeneration Programme, which follows on from the successful High Street Heritage Action Zone.

The scheme is being carried out by B&NES Council, with funding and support provided by Historic England, the West of England Combined Authority through its ‘Love Our High Streets’ grant programme, and Midsomer Norton Town Council.

The work is expected to be completed by early 2025.
