On 20th April, Sing Your Heart Out performed a Spring concert at St John’s Church in Chilcompton to raise money for Beat, the eating disorder charity.
The concert had been postponed from the snowy weekend at the beginning of March, but thankfully this time we were blessed with a beautiful Spring evening!
We enjoyed performing some our newer pieces, including Adele’s ‘Make You Feel My Love’, and old favourites such as ‘You Raise Me Up’. We were joined by some very talented young musicians – Frances and Sonja Weldon, who performed piano solos, and Izzy Timson-Smidt, who played the violin.
During the interval, the audience enjoyed tea, coffee, and a spectacular range of cakes, as well as a raffle to raise extra funds for the charity. We were thrilled to raise a total of £1,066, and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped to achieve this.
Looking ahead, many of us have been inspired by the music from ‘The Greatest Showman’, and now that some of the hits have been arranged for choirs, we’re eager to add them to our repertoire. This term, we’ll also be learning some of our favourite pieces from a John Rutter singing workshop that some of us attended at Bath Abbey earlier this year.
Upcoming performances include St John’s Church fete in Chilcompton (Saturday, 7th July) and a concert in St Andrew’s Church, Holcombe (Friday, 12th October) to raise money for their ‘loo fund’! We will always welcome new members – no need to be able to read music, and no auditions – just lots of enthusiasm required!
