Back in May, The Somer Valley Singers organised a Charity Concert in aid of the Rock Road Guides’ Hall renovation fund.
The choir was joined, on the night, by the Tabor Ringers, a group of handbell and chimes ringers from Timsbury, and the Paulton Concert Band.
The choir’s pianist, Gay Pullom, performed a piece by Liszt as a solo item.
The varied programme was very well received and the choir was pleased to present a cheque for £350 to a group of Brownies and their Leaders last Thursday.
The Somer Valley Singers wish to express their appreciation to all the performers for their contributions to making the concert such a success.
They would also like to thank the Midsomer Norton Community Trust for their valuable support in staging the concert in the Town Hall and providing a bar during the interval. The assistance of many members of the Guide and Brownie groups on the night was also greatly appreciated.
After the presentation of the cheque, the choir was thanked by Guide Leader, Lucy Book and told that the fund has now reached the first target, to enable work to start on the roof of the hall this summer. Fund-raising continues to pay for further necessary renovations – including a new kitchen!
