Somer Valley Cycling Club (SVCC) is inviting cyclists of all abilities to take part in its Mendip Madness sportive on Sunday, 16th April, with all proceeds donated to Avon Air Ambulance.
This will be the twelfth year the club has run the popular event. It offers the choice of sixty, forty or thirty mile routes over the Mendips, with stunning views of the surrounding countryside.
All three circular routes start at Ston Easton Village Hall at 9am and the longer two routes take in Cheddar Gorge and the Somerset Levels. The shorter route has been designed with junior riders in mind, as well as those wanting a gentler day out.
Facilities provided include refreshments at the start; feed stations en-route; GPX routes; emergency backup; free tea, coffee and cakes at the finish line; and a finisher’s certificate.
Event organiser Guy Worsdall comments: “This sportive aims to take riders to parts of the Mendips that others don’t! We can’t promise great weather, but we can promise fantastic routes with panoramic views of the best in the West, and some great cakes! We hope the shorter route with its minimum entry fee for junior riders will encourage youngsters to be part of a great day out on bikes.”
