The Somer Valley Foodbank annual three day collection at Tesco was held last weekend and once again the people of Midsomer Norton and surrounding area were extremely generous.
We managed to collect 2473 kgs of food. This was a fantastic effort and was only a few kilos down on last year and considering the cost of living crisis is upon us, it was a remarkable achievement and a real testimony to the generosity of the people in this area.
That will help us to give individuals and families in crisis the provision of emergency food supplies. Care professionals refer people to the Foodbank centre where they are given their food supplies, a cup of coffee and help in finding other professionals who can help them out of their crisis.
The Foodbank allows the general public to contribute to and support local well-being in a simple practical way. This was never so evident as last weekend. Well done to all the people who donated, it was brilliant.
