Children of St John’s Primary School Midsomer Norton were treated to an exciting Christmas pantomime performance after the school’s regular theatre group was unable to proceed with their plans.

On the final day of term, the staff at St John's Primary School presented a special performance of Cinderella to the children. Directed by Jo Jewell, a teaching assistant at the school brought this year’s production to life.

The fairy godmother was portrayed with sparkling wings, adding a ‘touch of magic’ to the performance. The ugly sisters played their roles with lots of energy, making the children laugh and cheer throughout the performance.

Headteacher Mrs West-Gaul said: "Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year. I'm incredibly proud of our staff for embracing the magic of the season and putting on such a fantastic pantomime at such short notice.

“It's a reminder that even in the busiest of times, we can come together, be creative, and share some laughter. We wish our whole community a very Merry Christmas."

The cast’s interactive approach also stood out, as they encouraged the children to shout the familiar pantomime phrases at the appropriate moments, further involving the audience in the performance.

One parent said: "It’s wonderful to see our amazing staff at St John's getting so involved and having fun. The pantomime really brought the whole school together. My child was buzzing with excitement afterwards, and it’s clear that everyone, from the children to the teachers, had a fantastic time. It's a tradition we hope will continue next year."
