On the 5th August 2023 we had a group of twenty visitors from East Cheshire (actual Ringers pictured bottom right) who thoroughly enjoyed ringing our Bells, as well as visiting the Stone Circles.
I have received many comments on how lovely it was to hear them ringing out.
Some time ago we were donated a sixth bell and the people involved in its supply and installation expressed a wish to ring a first full Peal at some time. So it came to pass that we were able to arrange the Full Peal to be rung on 16th August 2023. On that day, we had visitors consisting of all from the donation of the sixth bell, to engraving the bell, fitting the bell and rope were ringing a full Peal (pictured right).
This was the first Full Peal to be rung in the Tower on six bells. Many have asked me, as the ringing for a full Peal can take up to three hours, do they have toilet breaks... the answer is no!
The six Ringers ring continuously for the full Peal.
Chew Branch Training officers are supporting our two new Ringers, and of course us oldies!
Stanton Drew ringers are visiting training sessions at other Towers in and around the Chew Valley and of course welcome trainers to our Tower too when they are able.
