One of the West’s oldest summer fayres returned to Radstock for a day 'packed with fun, sunshine and entertainment' - supported by funding from the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority.
Mayor Dan Norris opened the community event held on St Nicholas Church Field on Sunday, June 2, bringing hundreds of visitors to the area to enjoy food, live music and entertainment, improving footfall in the town centre and revitalising the high street.
The first Radstock Fayre was held in 1995, with The Natural Theatre Company taking charge of organising this year’s festivities.
Dan Norris’s £10,000-plus grant meant the fayre could expand into the town centre in 2024, featuring a busking and outdoor performance stage.
After basking in the summer sunshine and checking out and enjoying all the professional theatre, walkabout acts, community open mics for local musicians and artists, as well as the super-interactive creative workshops led by local artists, Mr Norris said: “Radstock Fayre is a summer highlight, and it was great to see so many locals out there enjoying it all. I know it’s the culmination of a lot of hard work.
“I’m pleased funding from the Mayoral Combined Authority meant the fayre could go ahead this year, and that we could expand it, too.”
