Good Friday remembering Christ Crucified, was witnessed by local Churches who rose to the occasion by walking with a wooden cross in large groups from Radstock play park to an outdoor service at Trinity Methodist Church. Midsomer Norton & Radstock Silver Band and many gathered to greet the walkers and take part this Easter time.

Christians Together Service was led by Anglican Vicar Rev Ian Rousell of St. Peter’s Westfield and Kilmersdon, who welcomed friends and families on another glorious day. We sang the first hymn of Crown Him with many crowns reminding us of the wounds and pains Jesus Christ went through for us, on a Roman cross, who is Love and Peace throughout the years and King of Kings!

Mrs Julie Justin, Chair of Christians Together, representing the Catholic Diocese of Downside Abbey, read from Luke’s Gospel Chapter 23 v 44-56, about the death and burial of Jesus and placed in a tomb of Joseph of Arimathea in Judea.

After another resounding hymn of My Song is Love written by Samuel Crossman, Trinity Methodist Minister Rev’d Martin Slocombe gave a message about the crucifixion and hope and comfort for us today. Jesus faced the full horrors of crucifixion even denying drink to ease the pain on the cross, but as promised three days later rose to show he is with us in bad and good times.

Prayers were said by the Vineyard Church based in Radstock led by Preacher Rob, and Suz Addicott followed by the Lord’s Prayer and a famous hymn by Isaac Watts – When I Survey the Wonderous Cross. After a blessing, the large attendance came in for a soup lunch and hot cross buns.

Thank you to all who made this event so popular, including Easter Sunday led by Rev John Carne, where the empty cross has now been decorated with flowers and displayed outside the Church.

Next week at Trinity Methodist – Saturday Coffee Morning with Bacon Butties 10-12pm. Sunday Service come and hear Rev. Martin Slocombe 10.30-11.30am.
