Last week’s Mystery Photograph was a landscape photograph showing Old Mills and Springfield Collieries, which is now the site of Tesco, Midsomer Norton.
Well done to those of you who guessed Old Mills Colliery Paulton/Springfield correctly: Colin Button, Richard Edwards, Mike Lampert and Eric Brain.
Many thanks to Eric Brain, who said: “Interesting picture that I have looked at time and again this week.
“I can only think by the layout that it is an early aerial shot looking north east of Old Mills Colliery with Springfield pit and the B&NS Railway line in the foreground. The site of your own offices in fact, but very much changed over more than a century.”
Richard Edwards told The Journal: “I think this week’s photo is of Old Mills and Springfield Collieries, Paulton, taken possibly in the early years of the 20th Century.
“The railway in the foreground, on which there is a line of trucks, would be the GWR North Somerset Bristol - Frome line.”
Do you recognise where this week’s Mystery Photograph was taken? Perhaps you recognise someone in the photograph?
