A lot of readers got in contact with answers for last week’s Mystery Photograph. Well done to every one who guessed Westfield correctly. We want to hear your memories from this week's Mystery Photograph.

Thank you to Lucy Tudor for this throw back of Westfield: “The photographer is probably in St Peter’s Road where there are still the bungalows you can see in the foreground. The photographer is looking towards the A367 which to the left is going towards Radstock and to the right is going towards Wells or Shepton Mallet. In the middle ground right of the photo is the old St Peter’s Church and I remember this building which was pulled down I think in the 80s to make way for the new St Peter’s.”

Well done to the following people for guessing Westfield correctly: Simon Chard, Mike Ford, Christine Oatley, Andrew Hawkins, Janet Marsh, Dave Curtis, Gary Dando, Colin Button, Neil Gillard, Norma Attwood, Dave Seddon, Peter Box, Jonathan Griffin, David Young, Meg Rodgers, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Paul Kirkwood, Jeff Parsons, Tony Clarke, Dawn Rogers, Valerie Rogers, Tony Young, Sally Bown, Eric Brain, Hilary Brown. Alan and Norma Norris and Pete Callow.

Thank you to Lynne Waton who said: “This week’s mystery photograph is taken from St Peter’s Road and features the previous St. Peter’s Church. This Church was consecrated in1952 but sadly had to be demolished in 1985 as it had concrete cancer. The present Church was opened in 1988.

“Coincidentally, on Saturday 18th November St. Peter’s Church are holding an open morning and gift day from 10am till 2pm. We will be showing a old film featuring the consecration of the 1952 Church. This hasn’t been shown in public before. All are welcome to pop in for a cup of tea and a piece of cake and watch the film. You might even recognise someone from 70 years ago!”

Many thanks to Paul Hancock, who said: “It is looking down from the Batch on St Peter’s Road with St Peter’s Church Westfield and Clarks Shoe Factory. The fifth house from the left hand side of the picture on the main road was where I was brought up. Just to the right is Moss’s Builders Yard.”

Thank you also goes to Meg Rodgers, who said: “This week’s Mystery Photograph is of the back view of the original St. Peter’s Church at Westfield .

“Peter and myself were married there on June 24th 1972. Sadly the Church was taken down as it developed concrete cancer in its roof. The body of the Church was built in the shape of a shoe box because of the fairly new at the time of Clark’s shoe factory down the road and visible in the photograph.”

Well done to Dave Urch who said: “I have to comment on your Mystery Photo of St Peter’s Church, Westfield, taken from The Batch with Clark’s Factory in the background. Heather and myself were one of the last couples to get married in St Peter’s before they demolished it!”
