We had a great response to last week’s Mystery Photograph! Thank you to everyone who guessed Radstock correctly and gave us some historical information.
Well done to the following; Paul Hancock, Simon Chard, Dylys Watts, Janet Marsh, Ken Cottle, David Swift, Jo Chappell, Keith Moore, Debbie Hannums, Angela Wilson, Pete Callow, Steven Eyles, Regan Moyle, Christine Oatley, Mike Ford, Alan & Norma Norris, Les Box, Hannah Selway, Roy Barnes, Val Rogers, Neil Gillard, Pete Callow, Peter Box, Paul Kirkwood, Norma Attwood and David Young.
Thank you to Eric Brain who said: “An easy Mystery Picture this week; a very old image of centre of Radstock looking in the direction of Bath on A368 over the two former level crossings.
“The road to Frome heading off to the right by the cart, and the Clock Tower of the old Market, now the Museum, just visible to the top centre of the picture. The underpass is just discernible too.”
Thank you to Richard Bowring who wrote in to say: “The Mystery Photograph was Radstock with two railways crossing the road. Pictured on the right one of the two signal boxes, off the road was subway to come either way when gates were closed.
“The building showing left of the signal box is part of Radstock Market with the clock, which is now the Museum. There was a brewery behind the market. To the left of the market was The Bell Hotel and Pub, my wife Sheila and I had our wedding reception there in 1957. To the left was a shop at the bottom of Old Bath Hill.
Can you guess where we are in this week’s Mystery Photograph?
