Last week’s Mystery Photograph was taken of Bowden Hill in Chilcompton.
Thank you to everyone who contacted us, and to the following for guessing Chilcompton correctly:
Paul Hancock, Colin Button, Simon Chard, Norma and Eddie Attwood, Paul Kirkwood, Sally Bown, Les Box and Hannah Selway, Dave Curtis, Gilmour Jones, Martin Horler, David Swift, Neil Gillard, Jeff Parsons, Valerie Rogers, Eric Brain, Christine Oatley, Roy Barnes and Val Rogers.
Many thanks to Shannon Turner, who said: “This is Bowden Hill, Chilcompton, just below where it changes from the higher part of the road called Bakers Lane, and then of course lower down it becomes The Street, alongside the river.
“I recognise it because of the distinct bend in the road and the pavement alongside which clings closer to the hill than the road. My cottage is just tucked in out the way on the left, snuck in between the first two houses on the roadside. I was a bit thrown by the terraces behind in the valley, but I presume this must have been Britannia Close as it was then. A shame those houses didn’t survive; they would have been much appreciated in the village where everything is so expensive. David Strawbridge, now sadly demised, was a font of knowledge on all things Chilcompton, and published a book on Chilcompton history, and no doubt would have been able to enlighten us.”
Do you know where we are in this week’s Mystery Photograph? Perhaps you recognise someone or something in the photograph. We would love to hear from you!
