MORE acts have been announced for the tenth anniversary of Valley Vest which promises a “night of complete madness.”
Don Letts, Badger, Jaguar Skills and Oko will play on Arcadia's Afterburner, a 360 degree dance arena featuring a DJ booth constructed from a jet engine, which is fully-rigged with fire and lights.
Save our Scene and BillyChip Live, supporters of grass roots music and a homelessness charity, are behind the new takeover with support from PlayHuman, and the festival will be held next to Chew Valley Lake on August 1-4. Don Letts, a DJ, broadcaster and award-winning filmmaker, will play some bass heavy sounds, Badger is known for his adventurous sets - blending UK garage, bass house, and jungle. Jaguar Skills, master of the quick mix, and Bristol-based artist OKO, who has solidified her name in the drum and bass scene, are also on the Thursday night line-up. Valley Fest has already announced Stanton Warriors, Fabio and Grooverider, Huey Morgan, Mungo’s Hifi, Dr Meaker, Phil Hartnoll (Orbital) DJ set, Dr Meaker, The Nextmen, Ratpack and Gardna who will all play on the Afterburner. As well as DJs, festival-goers can expect boundary-pushing fire performances, immersive dancefloors, plus mind-boggling fire and light effects. Arcadia’s Lords of Lightning will shoot bolts of electricity from their bodies, at different sonic frequencies, creating music lightning. Now celebrating its tenth year, organisers say it’s going from strength to strength against a challenging backdrop for small, independent events. Save Our Scene is an events and media organisation which are advocates for the protection of grassroots music. BillyChip Live is the fundraising events arm of BillyChip – the homeless charity and long-time partner of Valley Fest.
This takeover has been supported by PlayHuman, the Interactive Streaming Network that helps independent artists and creators, take back control of their creativity, commerce and community. It does this by enabling them to earn directly and be as creative as they can - using new technology and platforms without ad-model nor algorithm pressures. George Fleming from Save our Scene said: “We’re so excited to be part of Valley Fest and take over Arcadia’s Afterburner stage for a night of complete madness with artists, including Badger, Don Letts, Jaguar Skills and Oko.” Other artists on the line up include Sister Sledge, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Tinie Tempah, The Feeling and The Skids will play. Tickets with Thursday entry are £190 (plus booking fee) and can be bought in instalments to spread the cost.
