A GARAGE in a North Somerset village which saved it from being redeveloped could soon get a new car wash area.
An application has been submitted to North Somerset Council to set up a new outdoor car wash area at the petrol station near Backwell Motors, in an area currently used for car parking around the back of the shop.
Another application has also been submitted to install an additional petrol pump and extend the canopy roof.
Last year, planning permission was granted to demolish the petrol station and build seven homes on the site near the village’s railway station. But after a campaign to save the petrol station by Backwell locals new operators took over the garage.
