MORE than 700 young people from Scout Groups and Explorer Units in the Wansdyke district gathered recently at Woodhouse Park Activity Centre for ‘WanJam’.

The event is held held every four years but has been delayed recently due to covid restrictions. The fun weekend was on the theme of ‘The Big Fiesta’.

The day was jam-packed with activities, including climbing, archery, escape rooms and much more.

The official badge for the weekend, which was issued to all who attended, was designed by Eva from High Littleton Scout Group.

District commissioner James Swallow said: “It was fantastic to see our young people enjoying so many activities, trying new things and making new friends at WanJam 2024.

“A huge thanks to volunteers Will Holmes and Will Summerill and their team for organising an amazing weekend, and to all the leaders and parents who helped out.”

Orrin, a Scout, said: “We had loads of free time to do everything there. My favourite was the assault course.”

Ellie, a seven-year old Beaver, said” “I really enjoyed the crossbows and axe throwing. It was really exciting to do.”

Scout Seb said: “I liked meeting Scouts from other troops.”
