A yellow weather warning has been issued for Somerset with winds of up to 70mph expected to cause disruption across the region.

The warning is in force from midnight until 9pm on Sunday, December 22, with strong and gusty north-westerly winds, according to the Met Office.

Showers are expected with a risk of hail and thunder in some areas.

The weather may lead to delays in public transport and cause disruption to the road network, which could be more noticeable due to the increased pre-Christmas weekend travel.

Coastal areas may also face hazardous conditions, including large waves.

To avoid delays, check road conditions or bus and train timetables before travelling, and adjust your plans if needed.
