PEOPLE living in and around the villages of Wellow and Foxcote are being invited to upcoming festive ‘Carols by Candlelight’ services at their local Anglican churches.
The annual events in both villages will feature traditional presentations of Nine Lessons, which will explore the Christmas message, as told in the Bible.
The services will be held entirely under candlelight, with one at St James' Church, Foxcote, on Sunday, December 15, at 4.30pm, and another at St Julian's Church, Wellow, on Sunday, December 22, at 6.30pm.
Vicar of both churches, the Revd Matthew Street, said: “Carols by Candlelight includes readings from the Bible in an effort to explore the reason why we celebrate Christmas every year. This traditional occasion is ideal for the family in the run up to the festive season.”
The churches are part of the ‘St J’s Group’ Anglican benefice, which covers the parish churches of St John's Peasedown, St Julian's Wellow, St James' Foxcote and St Julian's Shoscombe and is named after our three patron saints.
Both churches are easily accessible and offer a warm welcome to all, with St James' situated on the outskirts of Foxcote, and St Julian's in the heart of the village of Wellow. Everyone is invited to come.
