Chairman of the Council Cllr Philip Wilkinson and Cllr Diana Cooper, together with Father Christmas, once again toured the streets of Westfield to judge the annual Christmas outdoor lights competition.

It was wonderful to see, that despite the difficult times that we live in, Westfield residents had once again done us proud. With the streets positively aglow, it made our task extremely difficult. We managed to narrow it down to a short list of five, but in the end, our worthy winner was Mr Kevin Rabbits of 7 Ruskin Road, Westfield. His front garden is absolutely ablaze with colour, so much time and effort had been put into his display, that he had to win.

On receiving his trophy, Kevin said that he was overwhelmed, and just wanted to put a smile on people’s faces. Whilst we were presenting the trophy, the “W” family from Westfield were walking by, and the children were over the moon to see the lights, and of course Father Christmas. As Kevin so rightly said “this is the icing on the cake”. Diana Cooper
