Wetherspoons has submitted plans to open a second pub in Bath.
The national budget pub chain plans to open a new pub in premises formally occupied by Revolution, inGeorge Street. I
The chain has submitted three applications for listed building consent, advertising consent, and to vary the hours permitted for the building to open. The pub chain wants to be able to open its doors earlier so people in Bath can eat breakfast there.
A letter submitted to Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Council pointed out that the building has been used as a bar which stayed open until 2.30am.
The letter said: “Given that the premises has operated for a number of years within a sensitive time period and had no complaints or issues, it is considered that there would be no negative impact from increasing the hours of opening to (7am).”
Commenting in support of the plans, Bath resident Samuel Lucas said: “I live a matter of meters away from this location and would be happy to see somewhere that provides breakfast at this time.”
But Tony Bloom added: “This applicant states without providing any evidence that the majority of its premises open at 7am. Maybe they do, but their other outlet in Bath, the King of Wessex, opens at 8am. As do their pubs in Trowbridge, Radstock, Melksham, Kingswood...need I go on?”

The other applications can be seen under the “planning history” tab on its page on the Bath and North East Somerset Council planning portal.
Document states the council has a target determination date of March 19, 2025.
