More than 50 people of all ages, including children from three local Primary Schools, joined in with Writhlington’s Great Spring Clean and brought their parents along too.
A huge pile of rubbish was collected and bagged from all areas of Writhlington. Litter was picked up from pavements, lanes and play parks, to name just a few.
“It was very impressive”, said members of Writhlington Action Group.
After everyone had filled their bags, they were rewarded with hot drinks, squash, home made cakes and biscuits, which everyone seemed to enjoy.
The Writhlington Action Group were able to provide refreshments thanks to the kind generosity of the Village Hall Committee.
“We would also like to thank all the other organisations who helped to promote and support the event”, say the group.
“It was a lovely community event which brought people together, some for the first time. A lot of new friendships were formed.”
“We are hoping that some will continue to support our monthly litter picks, we meet outside the village hall at 10am on the last Sunday of every month. You don’t have to commit every month, just when you can.”
