One of our readers has responded to a piece in last week's edition of The Journal, citing what they think the area needs to move forward and entice people in to the town.

Reading ‘what do people want’ in last week’s Journal I thought I would put my views forward.
Having a public disabled toilet would be priority. Having to use a wheelchair for my husband there is very limited places in Midsomer Norton and parking for blue badge holders.
We know all the places you can use a disabled toilet but thats if they are open. The cafes that have them are hard to manoeuvre a wheelchair to and through.
We are glad that it has been passed for Gullock Tyning but that’s where the toilets were and I see that one would still have to use the leisure centre. We have in the past supported the Town Show right up to 2018, cinema in the town hall, music festival. That was when my husband was walking with a walker.
We are still in the Radstock/Midsomer Norton U3A in the Somer Centre for speaker meetings and coffee mornings, we join other carers at Mardons once a month, both of which have disabled toilets.
I still shop in Midsomer Norton but usually leave my husband in the car and tend to go to Frome more as I can park knowing that there are disabled toilets. Another reason is that our two banks have closed, one in the High Street and one in the Island. I do not wish to do online banking, call me old fashioned! BUT a campaigner for disabled toilets.
