A Radstock resident is concerned about the number of other local residents cutting their hedges during the summer months.

I am dismayed at the amount of hedge trimming I am seeing this summer.

Trimming should not be done between March 1st and September 1st according to DEFRA legislation.

I have seen many dead young birds on the path after hedge trimming.

Many bird species nest throughout this season well into late August and beyond.

With the decline in our wildlife I would ask people to refrain from hedge trimming during this period.
