After a week of bowling in the rain, the Ladies were pleased to see the sun out on Tuesday, for their North Somerset League game against friends from Purnell.

We only won on one rink, and lost on two, but finished up winning overall 56 shots to 52, and gaining six of the ten points. The game on Thursday was cancelled by Wrington, as they had a cup game to fit in, due to the bad weather last week.

The Men were not so lucky with the weather on Wednesday evening, even though the rain stayed off, the evening was bitterly cold. They played a MSL game against neighbours from Norwest and lost on all rinks, so got no points. I think the hot supper was very welcomed by both teams.

On Friday, the Ladies played the next round of the Fear Plate, against Purnell Ladies. We won on one rink but lost on the other two, losing overall by 49 shots to 67. Good luck to Purnell in the next round.

The Centurion Cup was played over two days, starting on Saturday morning. Four rinks of triples started at 10 a.m., and after lunch the four winning teams played. The two winning teams then went on to play on Sunday morning. These were Mike Satterthwaite, Reg Morgan and Carole Jenner-Timms, who played against Bob Jenner, Julie Macfarlane and Anne Morgan. After a hard-fought game, Carole’s team came out as winners. A lovely lunch followed, prepared, cooked and served by Tony and Celia. Thanks to both of them and also to Ray, for manning the bar.
