After last week’s disastrous results, it’s nice to have some better news this week. Not that it started too well for our chaps, who lost when they went to Keynsham, for their first round game in the Turnbull Cup.

This means that they will now play in the Wedmore Plate competition, and their first game is an away on July 16th, against our old rivals, Purnell. I’m sure our lads will do their best and any supporters who’d like to go along and cheer them on will be most appreciated.

Now for our ladies, who had two League fixtures this week: the first was a North Somerset League game against Alexandra Park and amazingly, they won. They claimed an 8-2 point victory, by 31.5 shots. Well done, girls.

Unfortunately, on an extremely hot afternoon, away to Castle Cary, and after playing an agreed 15 ends, we reverted to our usual form and lost 12-0.

The lads had a similar week to the ladies in that they started off well, but then it was downhill all the way. So let’s start with the good news: on Wednesday evening, the lads from Fosseway came to our green, for a Mid-Somerset League game. And boy, was it not their night! Suffice it to say, our lads trounced them, taking all the 16 points and scoring a Hot Shot into the bargain. Well done, Steve, Eric, Bri and Chris... your badges are on their way!

Alas, the Saturday County League results were not so good. Both our A and B teams lost. The A team were away to Bath B and lost 0-12, breaking their unbeaten record, while the B team, away to Keynsham A, lost 2-10.

Finally a reminder, the lists are up for Sunday friendlies to Trowbridge and Box, and also for the away day to Totnes. So come on, let’s have some names up there!
