A wet week for Paulton Bowls, starting with the Turnbull cup, played away at Chew Stoke on Tuesday.
A steady downpour dampened the spirits and cooled the blood but did not help the bowling as we could only win on one rink, losing on the other three and overall by a considerable margin.
Wednesday, in the MSL, saw the team away at Frome Selwood take the overall win albeit by a narrow margin on some rinks, well done men.
Saturday dawned with a damp start to the morning but this cleared by 10am to allow the Club Fours competition to proceed with some very tight match play and a great deal of banter before the last two teams went through to the finals. A great time was had by both spectators and players, with the possible exception of the last two teams on the the green playing their last end when the heavens opened and the poor souls ended extremely wet. Sometimes the bowls Gods have to have the last laugh!
The Petherton Cup match, away at South Petherton on Sunday, was postponed due to a Waterlogged green.
Although we can hope for better luck with the weather in the coming week, it does not look good, and waterproofs maybe the fashion item to take wherever you are.
